Homework:Students arrive to high school with a variety of expectations in regards to work completed outside of the classroom! The Freshman Academy sets high standards for homework and projects assigned to students. We hope to teach students to manage their time well, to complete all homework and project assignments outside of the classroom, and to organize their materials to maximize their learning in each academic course.
Homework Collection: Academy students are responsible for turning in written homework assignments before 9:00 AM on the due date. Students should place their homework into the appropriate box – collection boxes will be clearly labeled with the instructor’s name. Students are advised to deliver their own work to the box to ensure its delivery! Each student will have 2 academy classes per day. Late homework is defined as homework not completed and submitted by the 9:00 AM deadline on the due date! If a student misses this deadline, they may earn partial credit (60%) by attending study hall that day during lunch or the following day (or as arranged with the teacher). Homework that is turned in later than the deadline for earning partial credit or without study hall attendance is not eligible for any credit. |
Study Hall:The Academy study hall sessions will be offered before school (8:15AM-8:45AM) and after school (4:15PM-4:45PM.) Study halls are scheduled to meet in Room 112, Mondays through Thursdays. These study halls will provide students with a quiet place to complete their homework in a structured environment, an opportunity to meet with Academy teachers to review concepts covered in class, prepare for upcoming assessments, and make up missed assignments for partial credit.
Students making up work for partial credit in study hall will be required to stay in study hall for a minimum of 30 minutes and will then be released to the their class or for parent pick-up. Students are responsible for making arrangements to attend study hall. |
